It doesn’t require any new furniture, but if you really wanted to mix it up you can add an inexpensive piece of furniture like an end table.

Change the Paint Color on the Walls

The great thing about paint is that it is fairly inexpensive but can dramatically change the look of a room. Choose a color that is already in your color scheme for the room. You can choose a matching color or a complimentary color and develop a whole new feel for the room. If you don’t feel like painting the entire room, then simple choose one wall as an accent wall. Paint it an accent color to give the room some more interest.

Add Inexpensive Accessories to the Furniture

You don’t have to spend tons of money on accessories for your furniture to change the style of a living room. Some inexpensive accessories that you may even be able to take from a different room from your home include decorative pillows, throws, vases and baskets, flower arrangements, candles, and lamps.New decorative pillows on a couch can make give it a totally different style. You can easily turn a neutral colored couch with a country style, to a contemporary style with different pillows. With items like tables and shelves, you can add candles and baskets to mix up the décor.

With window treatments you can change the color, patterns, and the type of material easily. You can also add other window treatments to the existing ones such as adding a fabric valance to a window that already has blinds. If you want to change the look of your living room but you don’t have a lot of money to spend, then get resourceful and creative to come up with a new style. Follow one or more of these tips and next time you have a gathering at your home, your friends and family may not even recognize the room.
